What is Authentic Consistency?

I can explain it best with a story from my content creation journey early on.

The first book I wrote and published was called Selling With Authentic Persuasion. I didn’t know where to start, how to structure it, nor how to make it successful. I just had a burning desire to write a book and shift my life in a different direction.

So I hired an amazing Coach – one that focuses on helping experts write a book as an authority piece (not with the goal of best seller generating residuals – but for generating clients and speaking engagements). He gave me the framework and playbook and made it so simple that I was able to write the book in under 8 weeks while working full time as a VP of Sales.

But after countless rounds of editing, I was so tired of the process that once it was published and the topic of recording the audio book version came up, I just wanted to outsource it.

I went online, found several voice-over actors, and had them submit a sample chapter recording in their voice. Then I made a landing page with the recordings and a way to vote for the favorite and emailed it out to my trusted inner circle.

Here is what I heard back from each person, in their own way: your book is called ‘authentic’ persuasion, your goal is to speak on stages…what will happen when someone listens to the book and person recording – envisioning someone that sounds like Morgan Freeman (which is what one of the voice-actors sounded like…which of course made my book sound even better!), but then you walk out (if you have seen me…you know that anyone would disappointed if I walked out instead of Mr. Freeman.

So, I recorded the audio version myself. It might have been harder than writing it. It was the right decision because what my friends were telling me is that I needed to be Authentically Consistent.

You need to ensure that what you write, what you record, what you produce is the same ‘you’ that your prospective business owner client meets with. If it doesn’t match, they won’t trust you and it will be for nothing.

AI and other tools are great for getting some of the heavy lifting done in some cases, but it still needs to always be the YOU your clients want to do business with.

AI Strategy Corner

How to Use AI to Audit Your Online Presence (in 15 Minutes)

Most brokers don’t realize how they show up online looks to an owner or referral partner. AI can help you find out — fast.

Here’s how:
1. Ask ChatGPT (or another AI) to analyze your LinkedIn profile for clarity, authority, and positioning.
2. Run your website copy through AI and ask, “Does this build trust for an owner considering a sale?”
3. Prompt AI to generate 5 improvements for your bio, summary, or service descriptions.

The brokers who treat AI as their silent marketing assistant will stand out. Everyone else will keep wondering why nobody calls.

Broker Growth Hack

Hack 3: Kill the “Hope Strategy” for Referrals

Most brokers wait for CPAs or attorneys to remember them. That’s not a referral strategy — that’s gambling.

Hack: Build a referral rhythm. Create a simple tracker: list your 10 key partners, note your last touch, and schedule a new one every 3 weeks. Rotate between value drops (like an article or guide), personal check-ins, and co-branded resources.

Do this for 90 days and watch your referral volume double.

Final Word

If you’re relying on cold calls and “hope referrals,” you’re stuck in the transactional trap. The brokers who will dominate this market are the ones who show up consistently with authority content and systematized referral ecosystems.

Business owners don’t want another salesperson. They want a trusted advisor. That’s the shift.

Focus on that shift and you will win, long term.
